Pandemic Relief

The Covid-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, leaving millions of people in need of immediate help. Nabatara Foundation stepped up to provide essential relief during this crisis. From distributing food and medical supplies to providing financial support, we have been on the frontlines, ensuring that those affected by the pandemic get the assistance they need.

COVID-19 Relief: Turning Despair into Hope During India's Darkest Hour

When India's oxygen crisis peaked in April 2021, our volunteers navigated corpse-filled streets to deliver 500+ oxygen concentrators to gasping patients. By November 2023, we'd supported 10,000+ families with life-saving interventions—proving that humanity outlives any virus.

The Crisis & Our Response

As hospitals overflowed and crematoria glowed through nights, we mobilized:

  • 24/7 Oxygen Banks: Sourced concentrators from China/Germany; adapted auto-rickshaws for mobile delivery
  • Vaccine Access Brigades: Vaccinated 5,000+ in tribal/rural areas through pop-up clinics
  • Livelihood Lifelines: Cash transfers to 2,000+ daily wage workers stranded by lockdowns
  • Last Rites Dignity: Free cremation support for 380+ families

2021-2023 Impact Snapshot

Intervention Lives Touched
Oxygen Delivered 1,200+ critical patients
Meals Distributed 2.1 million
Vaccines Administered 5,000+
Mental Health Consultations 1,500+

Our Frontline Battlefields

💨 Oxygen Emergency Response

The Night We Cheated Death

When a Kolkata ICU put 22 patients on a single oxygen cylinder, our team:

  • Activated corporate donors for 300 concentrators within 72 hrs
  • Trained 450+ volunteers in safe cylinder handling
  • Created "Oxygen Maps" showing real-time supplier availability

Result: 93% survival rate among recipients like 65-year-old Rajiv Das, who regained consciousness after 14 hours on our concentrator.

💉 Vaccine Justice Initiative

Bridging the Urban-Rural Divide

In Sundarbans villages where myths spread faster than viruses:

  • Converted fishing boats into vaccine ferries
  • Recounted 12 grandmothers as "myth-buster ambassadors"
  • Used projector trucks to show vaccine manufacturing videos

Outcome: 85% vaccination coverage in target slums vs. state avg. of 52%.

🍚 Hunger Eradication Drive

Community Kitchens That Fed Thousands

Our "Roti Ghar" model:

  • Partnered with 120+ home chefs for hygienic meal production
  • Deployed GPS-tracked delivery bikes with insulated boxes
  • Served diabetic/renal-specific meals for chronic patients

Impact: 2.1 million meals distributed including to sex workers' children denied ration cards.

Survivors' Voices

"When my wife died gasping for oxygen, I almost jumped into the Hooghly. Then Nabatara gave me a vaccine auto-rickshaw. Transporting 1,200+ tribal villagers to clinics became my therapy. Saving others saved me."

— Amit Ghosh, South 24 Parganas

"After losing 14 patients in one shift, I couldn't stop crying. Nabatara's mental health counselors taught me trauma-release techniques. Today, I train others in ICU resilience."

— Priya Mehta, Kolkata COVID ICU
